Children's Occupational Therapy

Moving and Handling Contract and Traded Services

Moving and Handling Contract

We have a contract with Norfolk County Council until July 2018 to provide child specific moving and handling assessment and training in mainstream Norfolk schools. We can also provide a consultancy service to complex needs schools.  This service is for physically disabled children and young people and is not for those requiring physical intervention due to behavioural problems. The future of this service beyond July 2018 is dependent upon the outcome of Norfolk County Council’s review of services offered to schools.

To access this service please download and complete the Moving and Handling Referral Form*.
*This form may be returned directly to the Children’s Occupational Therapy Team, Fledglings, Norwich Community Hospital, Bowthorpe Road, Norwich, NR2 3TU

Traded Services

If a service is not commissioned by statutory services but we have the necessary skills and experience within the team, we are able to offer a not-for-profit Children’s Occupational Therapy service or training.

Examples of services which have already or may be purchased by families, schools, Local Education Authorities, GPs, Social Services, Continuing Health Care etc include:

  • Handwriting assessments and treatment
  • Coordination assessments for children and young people outside of our commissioned referral criteria (e.g. children aged 9 years, in year 5 or in year 7 upwards)
  • Teacher training sessions on, for example, coordination difficulties, fine motor problems, specific conditions
  • Child Specific Moving and Handling assessment and training

If you would like more information on any of this or have a topic in mind for a training session, please contact the team on ChildrensOT@nchc.nhs.uk to discuss your requirements.
